CONCLUSION: data from this research suggest the "metric foot tends to be produced more correctly, a prosodic structure where less erasing take place. The syllables most affected by erasing are those, which are just outside of the "metric foot". (Source: Revista CEFAC)

This report extends the clinical spectrum of the 15q11q13 duplication, and we recommend the investigation of 15q11q13 duplication not only in subjects with autistic spectrum disorder but also in patients with low normal intelligence and dyspraxia. © 2010 Wiley-Liss, Inc. The term "dyspraxia" was coined by Julian de Ajuriaguerra and Mira Stambak in 1964. This clinical term was treated very differently according to which explanatory model was adopted. Nowadays, it is used to refer to developmental coordination disorder in view of its neuro-developmental origin. In any case, the actual clinical situations vary and are often complex. In our opinion, it is first necessary to examine the differential diagnosis: apraxia in children caused by lesions, dysgraphia, simply delayed motor development, non-verbal learning disability syndrome, hemispheric specialisation deficits, pervasive developmental disorders (autisms, Asperger syndrome, atypical autism and other pervasive developmental disorders), mixed specific developmental disorders, mult...MedWorm Message: Register for MedMatcha, MedWorm's medical advertising network, and receive $5 free advertising.

Conclusion: Dyspraxia is said to occur in 20% of the population of children and without effective treatment will continue into adult life where it may not be recognised by the general chiropractic practitioner. It is hoped that this overview may bring to the attention of chiropractors the diverse symptoms and signs of dyspraxia and the sometimes subtle and yet debilitating effect it can have upon the patient and their treatment outcome. 49, XXXXY is a rare chromosomal syndrome due to double nondisjunction of the replicating X chromosome. Considered a severe variant of XXY or Klinefelter syndrome, boys with this chromosome constitution are assumed to have severe mental retardation (MR) in addition to craniofacial, genital, endocrine, and heart abnormalities. Here, we present a multidisciplinary analysis including the clinical and neurobehavioral aspects of this condition in 20 boys with 49, XXXXY who share a common phenotype and neurobehavioral profile. The phenotypic presentation of the boys with 49, XXXXY shares some characteristics with 47, XXY, but there are also other unique and distinctive features. Previously unappreciated intact nonverbal skills are evident in conjunction with moderate to severe developmental dyspr...MedWorm Message: Register for MedMatcha, MedWorm's medical advertising network, and receive $5 free advertising.

We report a case of a cerebral tuberculoma in a 60-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis while receiving the anti-tumor
necrosis factor alpha monoclonal antibody, adalimumab (Humira), for active disease. MR brain imaging for dyspraxia revealed
a left parietal ring-enhancing lesion, which on resection was shown to be a necrotizing granuloma. There were no associated
pulmonary lesions, and the patient was systemically well. Sputum and urine cultures were negative for tuberculosis. The patient
was treated with anti-tuberculous medications and made an excellent recovery. We consider this to be the first documented
case of tuberculosis involving the central nervous system occurring in the setting of adalimumab treatment.

In this study, the relationship between gesture recognition and imitation was explored. Nineteen individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) were compared to a control group of 23 typically developing children on their ability to imitate and recognize three gesture types (transitive, intransitive, and pantomimes). The ASD group performed more poorly than controls on all tasks of recognition and imitation. Higher performance on tests of working memory was associated with increased odds of successful imitation in both groups. Group differences remained even when working memory was statistically controlled for. An association was revealed in the ASD group between pantomime recognition and imitation but a similar association was not identified for intransitive gestures suggesting that reco...
